SEATTLE (AP) -The Tampa Bay Devil Rays called up left-handers J.P. Howell and Jeff Ridgway from Triple-A Durham after Saturday night’s game, and the pair will join the team on Monday in Anaheim.
Howell made 21 starts at Durham, going 7-8 with a 3.38 ERA. Howell, acquired in a June 2006 trade with Kansas City, made eight starts for the Devil Rays last year. He made eight starts this season, going 1-4 with a 7.36 ERA before being sent down to Durham.
Ridgway was 2-3 with a 3.06 ERA at Durham working out of the bullpen. The 27-year-old has spent his entire career in the minors.
