HOUSTON (AP) -Chicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee was scratched from the starting lineup Thursday night against Houston because of a bruised right knee.
Lee fouled a pitch off his knee in the fifth inning of Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over the Astros.
Daryle Ward replaced Lee for the finale of the three-game series. The Cubs open a four-game set in St. Louis on Friday.
Lee, batting .312 with 18 homers, was 8-for-24 with a homer and two RBIs in Chicago’s last six games.
