PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Pedro Martinez is to throw a bullpen session for the New York Mets on Friday in Atlanta before the next step in his comeback from rotator cuff surgery is determined,
Martinez was scheduled to throw in Florida, but instead the Mets moved it to Atlanta, where they’ll start a three-game series, Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said. Martinez could pitch for the Mets’ New York-Penn League team in Brooklyn on Monday.
Martinez hasn’t pitched for the Mets this season. The three-time Cy Young Award winner allowed an unearned run and five hits in six innings Monday night for the St. Lucie Mets against the Palm Beach Cardinals in a Class A Florida State League game. It was the fourth rehab start for Martinez.
