HOUSTON (AP) -The Astros purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Troy Patton from Triple-A Round Rock after their game with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.
To make room for Patton on the roster, right-hander Juan Gutierrez was sent back to Round Rock.
The 21-year-old Patton will make his first major league start Saturday night against the Pirates. Patton made eight starts at Round Rock, where he was 4-2 with a 4.59 ERA. In 16 starts with Double-A Corpus Christi, Patton was 6-6 with a 2.99 ERA.
The 24-year-old Gutierrez made three appearances for the Astros from in the last six days, including his first major league start on Thursday against Washington. He posted an 0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA.
