KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Ryan Shealy, who went on the disabled list June 30 with a strained left hamstring, was activated by the Kansas City Royals after their 2-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.
Shealy had completed his 20-day minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha and hit .343 with four home runs in his past nine games. Shealy, who has hit .221 with three home runs and 21 RBIs in 52 games this season with Kansas City, was optioned to Omaha.
“We don’t have anybody we really want to send out right now,” manager Buddy Bell said of making roster space for Shealy. “That’s really the only reason we’re optioning him.”
