ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -Boston’s Manny Ramirez was ejected by plate umpire James Hoye for arguing a checked-swing third strike in the third inning of Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.
Ramirez tried to hold up on an 0-2 pitch from Jered Weaver but was called out after twisting his body around. Hoye took a few steps toward Ramirez as he uttered something on the way to the dugout, and that’s all it took for the AL East leaders to lose their leading RBI man for the rest of the game.
It was the first ejection this season for Ramirez.
