DENVER (AP) -San Diego right-hander Chris Young left the Padres’ game against the Colorado Rockies with an undisclosed injury after warming up for the third inning Tuesday night.
Young threw two perfect innings and had tossed five warmups when manager Bud Black and trainer Todd Hutcheson were summoned to the mound. He threw two more warmups before walking off the mound and into the dugout.
He was replaced by left-hander Justin Hampson.
Young, who leads the major leagues with a 1.82 ERA, threw 28 pitches and retired all six Rockies he faced. The 28-year-old had worked at least six innings in 10 of his last 11 starts. He had allowed only eight earned runs in that span.
