TORONTO (AP) -Seattle Mariners manager John McLaren was ejected in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
McLaren, who replaced Mike Hargrove as manager on July 2, was ejected for the first time since taking the job.
McLaren was upset about a 1-2 pitch from Felix Hernandez to Alex Rios that was called a ball by plate umpire Chad Fairchild. On the next pitch, Rios hit a two-run single to left, bringing McLaren came out to argue.
Troy Glaus hit a three-run home run on Hernandez’s next pitch, putting Toronto ahead 5-0.
