SEATTLE (AP) -Baltimore starter Erik Bedard, the league leader in strikeouts, was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday night against Seattle.
The Orioles said Bedard (8-4) awoke with a stiff neck Tuesday morning and is being pushed back to Friday, when Baltimore opens a three-game series in Oakland.
Daniel Cabrera (6-10) started in Bedard’s place in the finale of a three-game series with the Mariners.
Bedard leads the majors with 156 strikeouts, 23 more than Minnesota’s Johan Santana. Over his last five starts, Bedard is 4-0 and hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last two starts.
