CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago White Sox recalled right-hander Gavin Floyd from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
Floyd was 7-3 with a 3.10 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 15 starts with Charlotte. He appeared in 24 games over three seasons with Philadelphia, going 7-5 with a 6.96 ERA, and was acquired in the deal that sent Freddy Garcia to the Phillies during the offseason.
Floyd replaces reliever David Aardsma, who was sent down after giving up three runs on three hits in 1 2-3 innings of Wednesday’s 9-6 loss to Baltimore. Aardsma is 2-1 this season with a 6.40 ERA in 25 appearances.
