DETROIT (AP) -The Tigers placed right-hander Fernando Rodney on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and activated lefty Nate Robertson.
Robertson was scheduled to start Tuesday night’s game against the Texas Rangers. He was 4-6 with a 5.07 ERA in 12 starts when he went on the 15-day disabled June 6 with what manager Jim Leyland called a “tired arm.”
Robertson went on the DL the day after he faced six batters in a start against Texas, allowing two walks, two singles, a triple and a grand slam before Leyland pulled him.
Rodney was placed on the DL retroactive to Sunday with tendinitis in his right shoulder. He is 1-5 with one save and a 5.40 ERA in 27 games this season.
