KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -The Florida Marlins sent Rick Vanden Hurk to Double-A Carolina on Friday night after the rookie right-hander got the win in a 9-8 victory over Kansas City.
The Marlins also said outfielder Brett Carroll would be brought up from Triple-A Albuquerque and outfielder Alejandro De Aza would be transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Vanden Hurk (2-2) is being moved so the Marlins can eventually make room for right-hander Josh Johnson, who’s coming off the DL and is expected to pitch Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox.
