OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Boston outfielder Coco Crisp was a last-minute scratch from the Red Sox’s starting lineup Monday night with an upset stomach.
Crisp, who started 48 of the Red Sox’s first 55 games in center field this season, was in Boston’s original lineup, but Wily Mo Pena took the field in the bottom of the first inning against the Oakland Athletics.
After losing two of three to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park last weekend, Boston opened a seven-game road trip with four games against the A’s. The Red Sox didn’t reach their hotel in the Bay Area until 5:30 a.m. local time Monday.
