CINCINNATI (AP) -Jay Bruce, an outfielder considered the Cincinnati Reds’ top prospect, is expected to be called up from team’s top minor league club on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old Bruce will wear No. 32 when he makes his major league debut, the Reds said in a statement.
Bruce jumped from Single-A to Triple-A last season. He hoped to win the job in center during spring training, but the Reds were concerned about rushing him too fast and sent him to Triple-A Louisville to begin the year. In 49 games, Bruce hit .364 with 9 doubles, 5 triples, 10 home runs and 37 RBI.
The club said that a corresponding roster move will be announced Tuesday before the Reds’ game against Pittsburgh.
