MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Minnesota Twins placed reliever Jesse Crain on the disabled list Wednesday with inflammation in his pitching shoulder, a recurring problem this season for the righthander.
Crain gave up six unearned runs, including a two-run homer by Grady Sizemore, in the sixth inning of Tuesday night’s 15-7 loss at Cleveland.
Crain went 4-5 with a 3.25 ERA in 68 appearances last season. He has allowed 16 runs in 16 1-3 innings this season, and is 1-2 with a 5.51 ERA in 18 appearances.
Righthander Julio DePaula was called up from Triple-A Rochester to take Crain’s place in the bullpen. DePaula is 2-3 with a 3.15 ERA and two saves in 15 appearances for the Red Wings this season.
