KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -The Texas Rangers placed pitcher Kevin Millwood on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, a day after returning to the team and aggravating a hamstring injury that had kept him out for two weeks.
Reliever Ron Mahay also was put on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his ribcage.
Millwood, the team’s opening day starter, was returning from a stint on the disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. In his first outing since April 28, he allowed four runs and three hits with three walks before departing in the second inning against the Los Angeles Angels.
The team recalled pitchers Scott Feldman and A.J. Murray from Triple-A Oklahoma.
The right-handed Millwood is 2-4 with a 6.62 ERA in seven starts for Texas.
Mahay, a lefty, had a 3.86 ERA with 15 walks and 14 strikeouts in 16 1-3 innings.
Rangers manager Ron Washington said before Tuesday night’s game with Tampa Bay that no decision had been made on who will take Millwood’s spot in the rotation on Saturday.
Feldman was with the Rangers in April before being sent to the minors on May 1. Murray went 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 13 games with Oklahoma.
