DENVER (AP) – Troy Tulowitzki will miss the game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night with soreness in his legs.
Rockies manager Walt Weiss said the team is simply erring on the side of caution with the All-Star shortstop, especially given his history with leg injuries. Weiss thought it “makes sense to let him lay low tonight.”
Tulowitzki missed a bulk of last season after having surgery on his groin and sat out a stretch of games in 2008 with a quadriceps tear.
The cleanup hitter took a day off this week with a sore left shoulder after sliding awkwardly into home plate at Arizona.
Before batting practice, Tulowitzki jogged around the diamond. On his way into the clubhouse, Tulowitzki said, “I’m all right.” He has a team-leading 24 RBIs.
