ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -The Minnesota Twins activated infielder Jeff Cirillo from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and optioned infielder Alexi Casilla to Triple-A Rochester.
Cirillo had surgery to repair a cartilage tear in his left knee April 11. He played in one minor league game rehab game, Monday night with Class-A Fort Myers.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Cirillo likely will start Wednesday at Tampa Bay as the designated hitter. Cirillo went 1-for-3 with an RBI in two games before getting hurt.
Casilla hit .233 with two RBIs and four stolen bases in 14 games.
