PHOENIX (AP) – Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Didi Gregorius is feeling soreness after being hit in the helmet by a pitch in Friday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies, and will not play in Saturday’s game.
Gregorius was held out of the team’s on-field workout before the game as the Diamondbacks mull the possibility of placing him on the seven-day disabled list specifically for concussions, manager Kirk Gibson said.
Gregorius completed medical tests and was scheduled to meet with team doctors.
Gregorius was batting .407 in 11 games and had been a spark for the Arizona offense until being hit by a Josh Outman fastball in the seventh inning Friday. He fell to the ground and lay motionless for a few moments before being helped up and walking back to the dugout.
