SAN DIEGO (AP) -The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned right-hander Yusmeiro Petit to Triple-A Tucson on Sunday, one day after he allowed the game-winning home run in the Diamondbacks’ 8-7, 13-inning loss to San Diego.
Petit gave up Tadahito Iguchi’s solo homer with one out in the 13th inning to end the 4-hour, 2-minute game that gave Arizona its second straight loss.
The Diamondbacks recalled right-hander Max Scherzer from Tucson to replace Petit. Scherzer is making his first appearance on a major league roster.
Petit was 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA in six appearances.
