SAN DIEGO (AP) -The San Diego Padres recalled infielder Oscar Robles from Triple-A Portland on Monday.
Robles, 31, is batting .309 with six RBIs and six runs scored in 16 games for Portland. The Padres signed him as a free agent on Feb. 19. Robles played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005 and ’06, and has a career average of .262, with five homers and 34 RBIs in 139 major league appearances.
San Diego optioned right-hander Aaron Rakers to Portland to make room on the roster. The 30-year-old Rakers, signed as a minor league free agent on Jan. 17, appeared in one game for the Padres, working one scoreless inning April 19 against Arizona.
