TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -In a Jan. 25 story about man convicted of income tax fraud, The Associated Press, relying on information from federal prosecutors, reported erroneously that George Herman Ruth, 54, of Indianapolis, Ind., is the nephew of baseball great Babe Ruth.
Ryan Boyle, a business agent for Babe Ruth’s family, said descendants of his two daughters had not heard of the other Ruth until last week and have no knowledge of any family relationship.
The attorney who represented Ruth in court said his client did not explicitly say during the trial he was Babe Ruth’s nephew. Prosecutors say Ruth stated in court that there was a familial relationship.
