ST. LOUIS (AP) – Funeral services and a public visitation for Hall of Famer Stan Musial have been set for Thursday at the Cathedral Basilica.
Musial died at 92 on Saturday after several years of ill health.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cathedral, on 4431 Lindell Blvd., giving fans an opportunity to pay their respects to the franchise great. The funeral procession will make its way several miles east to Busch Stadium, where the family will lay a wreath at the base of the larger of the two Musial statues as part of a prayer ceremony before proceeding to a private burial.
The Cardinals said in a release Monday that additional details, including the procession route, would be provided at a later time. Musial was a seven-time National League batting champion and three-time MVP.
