Justin Verlander threw 8.1 innings, allowing just one run and three hits in the process to earn the win. Phil Coke came on to record the final two outs, striking out Raul Ibanez with two runners on to end the game. Delmon Young had a solo home run in the fourth to put the Tigers ahead and Miguel Cabrera had a RBI double in the fifth. Eduardo Nunez hit a solo home run off of Verlander in the ninth for the Yankees’ lone run.
