Dodgers vs. Rockies Pick
The sports book Bovada.lv has made the Dodgers a -127 favorite to win on the moneyline. The Rockies are a +107 underdog and the over-under is set at 11.
Pitching for the Dodgers will be Ross Stripling (3-5, 3.86 ERA), while the Rockies turn to Tyler Anderson (6-6, 3.81). Stripling has a 1.19 WHIP with 74 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings, with all but one of his 48 appearances coming out of the bullpen. He has not thrown more than three innings or 55 pitches in an outing this year. Anderson carries a 1.33 WHIP with 81 strikeouts in 86 innings. He threw seven shutout innings with four hits allowed and five strikeouts in a 6-0 home win over the Dodgers his last outing.
Los Angeles is 103-58 overall and is 46-34 on the road, while Colorado is 87-74 and 46-34 at home. The Rockies have won six of the last 10 meetings and the total has gone over six times.
On Saturday, the Rockies lost 5-3 but had already clinched the second NL Wild Card spot due to a loss by the Brewers earlier in the day. The Dodgers also secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with the triumph. Yasiel Puig was 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, four runs scored and two RBIs in the victory. Brandon Morrow earned the win in relief, while Kenley Jansen earned his 41st save. Carlos Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a home run for the Rockies. Tyler Chatwood suffered the loss in relief.
The Dodgers will likely have another bullpen day as Stripling shouldn't be expected to last longer than three or four innings. Anderson pitched a gem in his last start and will likely face a Dodgers lineup with some reserves. It's also an LA team that hasn't hit lefties very well. We lean toward betting the under in this game, although the Rockies as an underdog is also an intriguing bet.
