Jose Altuve belted a solo home run as the Astros fell to the Rangers in Sunday’s regular season finale. Altuve tagged Rangers starter Jordan Lyles for his solo shot in the opening inning. He also drew a walk in the game, finishing the day 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored. The 30-year-old had an extremely disappointing season at the plate, slashing .219/.286/.344 with five homers, 18 RBI and two stolen bases in 48 games.

Josh Donaldson (calf) took batting practice at Target Field on Monday. Byron Buxton (head) also participated in some elements of Monday’s team workout. Donaldson sat out the final two games of the regular season after experiencing cramping in his right calf on Friday, but it looks like he has a good shot to be in the Twins’ starting lineup for their postseason opener Tuesday afternoon against the Astros. The veteran third baseman put up an .842 OPS with six home runs in 28 games this summer.

Now that the schedule has turned from the regular season to the postseason, it’s time to start fading the Twins and backing the teams like the Astros that know how to get it done in the playoffs.
