Brandon Woodruff vs. Adam Wainwright
Milwaukee Brewers DFS Spin
Ryan Braun went 0-for-5 in the doubleheader against the Cardinals on Friday. He’s hitting .238/.282/.484 on the season. The Brewers certainly won’t be picking up their half of Braun’s $15 million mutual option for 2021, so we’ll have to wait and see whether he returns at a lesser price. Retirement is a possibility, as he’s turning 37 in November. Braun still offers plenty of pop, but he’s four years removed from his last excellent season offensively and he probably shouldn’t be asked to play the outfield more than a couple of times per week. It’d be easier for him to stick around if the NL DH remains in effect next year.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS Spin
Tommy Edman went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader versus the Brewers. Edman has been a big disappointment to fantasy leaguers in the stolen base department, going just 2-for-6 there, but he’s hit a solid .260/.329/.383 and played quality defense at three infield spots and in the outfield corners. The Cardinals might prefer to have him play less frequently next year, but at this point, he’s probably a better option at third than Matt Carpenter.
Brewers vs. Cardinals Betting Prediction
The under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams at Busch Stadium, cashing twice in the first three games of this weekend series. The under is also 6-1-1 in the Brewers’ last eight games when favored, is 4-0 in their last four road games and has cashed in four of their last five games overall. The under is also a perfect 4-0 in the Brewers’ last four games coming off a loss and is 5-0-1 in the Cardinals’ last six games as an underdog. Neither of these two teams can hit and both Woodruff and Wainwright have pitched well this season.
