Ramirez homers in defeat
Cleveland suffered an 8-3 loss at Chicago Wednesday night to drop to 1.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race with four games left to play. Jose Ramirez continued his stellar hitting in his brief time back from injury as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Franmil Reyes went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Roberto Perez was 1-for-2 with two walks. Shane Bieber suffered the loss as he allowed five runs (three earned) on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over 5 1/3 innings. Aaron Civale gets the start tonight for the Indians as he enters with a 3-3 record, 1.82 ERA and 0.99 WHIP plus 42 strikeouts over 54 1/3 innings.
Anderson has four-hit night
Chicago rolled to an 8-3 victory Wednesday night at home versus Cleveland to improve to 69-88 overall and 36-40 at home. American League hitting leader Tim Anderson padded his lead in the batting average category as he finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Welington Castillo went 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs off the bench. Leury Garcia ended the contest 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Ross Detwiler picked up the win as he allowed three earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and no walks over five innings. Dylan Cease will start tonight for the White Sox as he comes in with a 4-7 record, 5.79 ERA and 1.55 WHIP plus 81 strikeouts over 73 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 5-1 in their last six road games. Cleveland is 58-27 in its last 85 Thursday games.
Chicago
The White Sox are 2-7 in their last nine Thursday games. Chicago is 3-8 in its last 11 home games.
Prediction:
Civale has been a huge boost to the Indians rotation and I don’t see a reason he slows up here. The White Sox got to Bieber yesterday, which was surprising, but they aren’t usually as good against RHP as they are lefties. While Cease has a bright future and has been pretty good lately, this is a tough matchup especially with Ramirez back in the lineup. I’m definitely siding with a Cleveland team that is in basically a must-win situation.
