Bullpen game works for Yanks
Eight different pitchers for New York held the host Rays to two total hits Monday night in a 4-1 victory. Sonny Gray was the lone pitcher to throw more than one inning and he also gave up the one earned run and both hits over his two innings of work, but he did get credited with the victory. Gray struck out two and walked one. Zach Britton struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning for the save. Andrew McCutchen helped pace the offense by going 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two runs. Aaron Judge was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run and an RBI. Gleyber Torres finished 1-for-2 with a walk.
Pham scores lone run
Matt Duffy and Ji-Man Choi were both 0-for-2 with two walks in last night’s loss to the Yankees. Tommy Pham was 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Ryan Yarbrough took the loss in relief as he allowed three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks over five innings.
Luis Severino (18-8, 3.38 ERA) will start today for New York, while Tampa Bay turns to Jake Faria (4-3, 5.17).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 22-6 in their last 28 Tuesday games. New York is 13-6 in its last 19 road games.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 25-8 in their last 33 games overall. The under is 21-7 in the last 28 Tampa Bay games on Tuesdays.
Prediction:
Severino has been inconsistent in the second half of the season, but he has put together several good starts as of late. While he draws a fairly tough matchup at the Rays, he has the stuff to dominate any lineup. Faria has had a disappointing sophomore campaign and I think the Yankees will get to him enough here to support Severino. Take the visitors.
