Marlins enter on three-game win streak
Miami won the last three games of its four-game home series versus Cincinnati, taking Sunday afternoon’s game by a count of 6-0. Trevor Richards was outstanding in the winning effort as he threw seven shutout innings, giving up three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk. J.T. Riddle helped pace the offense by going 2-for-5, while Brian Anderson was 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Lewis Brinson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Chad Wallach finished 3-for-4 with a 3-run home run and two runs scored. Magneuris Sierra was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Nats drop finale to Mets
Washington lost three out of four games in its home series against New York as it fell 8-6 Sunday afternoon. Victor Robles helped pace the Nationals offense in the defeat as he was 3-for-6 from the leadoff spot with a home run, a triple, two runs and three RBIs. Trea Turner was 2-for-2 with a double, three walks, a run and an RBI. Bryce Harper went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Anthony Rendon finished 2-for-4 plus a walk. Spencer Kieboom was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Wander Suero suffered the loss in relief as he was hit hard for four earned runs on six hits with a walk in 1 1/3 innings.
Sandy Alcantara (2-1, 2.35 ERA) will take the mound tonight for Miami, while Washington counters with Strasburg (9-7, 3.83).
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins are 27-63 in their last 90 road games. The over is 10-3-1 in the last 14 Miami road games.
Washington
The Nationals are 2-7 in their last nine Monday games. Washington is 64-23 in Strasburg’s last 87 starts.
Prediction:
It’s hard to trust Washington at all at this price point and hoping it wins by multiple runs for the runline bet feels like chasing money. I’m also not too thrilled with the idea of Miami winning a fourth straight game, especially on the road. With two pretty good starting pitchers on the hill and on a Monday, I’m thinking hitters today have a bit of an unfocused approach and we get a low-scoring affair. Take the under here.
