Williams throws six shutout frames

Pirates starter Trevor Williams continued his strong season as he threw six shutout innings yesterday in a 3-0 home win over the Brewers. He gave up four hits with seven strikeouts and a walk. Felipe Vazquez gave up one hit with two strikeouts in a scoreless frame for his 36th save of the season. Adam Frazier was 2-for-4 with a run in the victory, while Starling Marte was 1-for-2 with a double plus a walk and two RBIs. Corey Dickerson ended the game 2-for-4 with a run. Colin Moran went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Yelich reaches base twice

Christian Yelich was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in Saturday's loss at Pittsburgh. Ryan Braun and Mike Moustakas were both 1-for-4, while Erik Kratz ended the game 1-for-3. Zach Davies took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on four hits in four innings, striking out three and walking one.

Wade Miley 5-2, 2.08 ERA) will start today for Milwaukee, while Pittsburgh counters with Nick Kingham (5-6, 4.69).

MLB Betting Trends

Milwaukee

The over is 12-2 in the last 14 Brewers games on Sundays. Milwaukee is 15-7 in its last 22 games overall.

Pittsburgh

The Pirates are 9-1 in their last 10 home games. Pittsburgh is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings.

Prediction:

The pitching matchup today favors the Brewers and Miley, who has been a very pleasant surprise for his squad. Kingham was strong to begin his MLB career as a rookie, but has faltered the last several months when given the opportunity in the big leagues. Don't look for Milwaukee to get shut down a second straight day, while Miley will likely give up two or three runs which puts it in a good spot for the over.
