The Padres sent Colorado to a fourth straight loss Thursday by a 3-0 final. Clayton Richard threw 7 1/3 shutout innings with eight strikeouts to get the win. Christian Villanueva was 2-for-4 with his second home run in as many nights plus two RBIs to lead the way. Manuel Margot was 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run. Yangervis Solarte was 2-for-4 with a run. Nolan Arenado and Mark Reynolds both had two hits for the Rockies. Tyler Anderson allowed three earned runs in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.
The Rockies have their best pitcher on the mound and need a victory to keep control of the second NL Wild Card race. We’re going to say the Colorado offense breaks out of its slump with a big night against Lyles.
