Rangers edged at Astros
Texas lost by a score of 3-2 Wednesday night at Houston to drop to 74-79 overall and 32-46 on the road. Ronald Guzman helped lead the Rangers offensively as he finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Willie Calhoun was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Danny Santana went 1-for-3 with a walk. Kolby Allard took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and four walks over five innings. Mike Minor draws the start tonight as he enters with a 13-9 record, 3.33 ERA and 1.21 WHIP plus 188 strikeouts over 194 2/3 innings pitched.
Canha wins it in 11th
Mark Canha hit a game-winning double to break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 11th inning Wednesday as host Oakland topped Kansas City by a score of 1-0. Canha ended the game 2-for-5 with the double and the RBI. Marcus Semien went 2-for-5 with a double. Ramon Laureano finished 1-for-4. J.B. Wendelken picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with two strikeouts and two walks over 1 1/3 innings of scoreless baesball. MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 4-1 in the last five Minor road starts. Texas is 0-6 in its last six games versus the AL West.
Oakland
The A’s are 55-25 in their last 80 games overall. Oakland is 5-2 in the last seven Fiers starts on Fridays.
Prediction:
Minor has been solid all season and should keep the Rangers in the game, especially against an Athletics offense that has struggled a bit lately. With Fiers also having issues, I think this is a good spot for Texas to play a bit of a spoiler and perhaps make the AL Wild Card race a little tighter. I think this is a good underdog spot.
