Lamet strikes out 14 in win
San Diego picked a 2-1 victory Wednesday night at Milwaukee to improve to 69-83 overall and 34-43 on the road. Dinelson Lamet notched the win as he allowed one earned run on three hits with 14 strikeouts and three walks over six innings of work. Seth Mejias-Brean led the offense as he ended the contest 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Greg Garcia went 1-for-3 plus a walk. Francisco Mejia was 2-for-4. Joey Lucchesi gets the start today as he enters with a 10-8 record, 1.22 ERA and 4.22 WHIP plus 145 strikeouts over 153 2/3 innings pitched.
Hiura homers for lone run
Milwaukee lost by a count of 2-1 at home Wednesday night against San Diego to drop to 82-70 overall and 45-32 at home. Keston Hiura led the Brewers offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Orlando Arcia ended the game 1-for-2, while Ben Gamel finished 1-for-4. Adrian Helmer took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and no walks over five innings. Jordan Lyles will take the mound this afternoon as he enters with an 11-8 record, 4.25 ERA and 1.33 WHIP plus 131 strikeouts across 131 1/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 2-6 in their last eight Thursday games. San Diego is 1-6 in the last seven Lucchesi starts.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 14-3 in their last 17 games overall. Milwaukee is 6-0 in the last six Lyles starts.
Prediction:
The Padres got the win yesterday, but I wouldn’t expect quite as dominant of a pitching outing today although Luchhesi has had a solid season overall. Lyles’ numbers are a bit deceiving due to a couple very poor outings, but I think he’ll be strong today against a Padres lineup that underwhelms. Milwaukee has plenty to play for and I think it gets back on the winning track this afternoon.
