Angels win close one
Los Angeles picked up a 3-2 victory Wednesday night at New York to improve to 69-83 overall and 33-44 on the road. David Fletcher helped lead the offense as he finished 3-for-5 with a run scored. Albert Pujols and Kevan Smith each went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Luke Bard picked up the win in relief as he struck out five in three perfect innings. Hansel Robles earned the save as he gave up one hit with two strikeouts in a scoreless frame. Andrew Heaney will take the mound tonight for LA as he enters with a 4-5 record, 4.76 ERA and 1.26 WHIP plus 103 strikeouts over 85 innings of work.
Judge homers in loss
New York suffered a 3-2 defeat Wednesday night at home against Los Angeles to drop to 99-54 overall and 54-23 at home. Aaron Judge led the way offensively as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. D.J. LeMahieu ended the game 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Brett Gardner ended the contest 2-for-4. Adam Ottavino took the loss in relief as he gave up one unearned run on three hits with no strikeouts or walks in one-third of an inning. MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-5 in their last six Thursday games. Los Angeles is 4-1 in the last five Heaney road starts.
New York
The Yankees are 58-26 in their last 84 games overall. New York is 10-4 in its last 14 Thursday games.
Prediction:
I wouldn’t expect the Angels to win two straight in the Bronx. Heaney has a high strikeout rate, but can be erratic and faces a lineup with a ton of home run power. New York is still in a fight for home-field advantage even after it clinches a playoff berth, but it can get one thing out of the way today. Go with the Yanks and consider the runline.
