Padres drop sixth straight
San Diego lost by a score of 3-1 Tuesday night at Milwaukee to drop to 68-83 overall and 33-43 on the road. Hunter Renfroe led the Padres offensively as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Manny Machado ended the game 1-for-3 plus a walk. Manuel Margot was also 1-for-3. Matt Strahm took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks over one inning. Dinelson Lamet gets the start today as he enters with a 2-5 record, 4.06 ERA and 1.26 WHIP plus 81 strikeouts over 62 innings pitched.
Cain, Moustakas power Brewers
Milwaukee kept rolling Tuesday night with a 3-1 home victory over San Diego to move to 82-69 overall and 45-31 at home. Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain each finished the contest 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Ben Gamel was 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored off the bench. Matt Albers picked up the win in relief as he allowed one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and no walks across one inning. Drew Pomeranz struck out four over two perfect innings of relief to notch the save. Adrian Houser will start tonight as he comes in with a 6-6 record, 3.84 ERA and 1.32 WHIP plus 104 strikeouts over 98 1/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 0-7 in their last seven road games. San Diego is 7-19 in the last 26 Lamet starts.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 8-0 in their last eight Wednesday games. Milwaukee is 9-1 in its last 10 games versus a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
These two teams are going in opposite directions and Lamet always seems to have one or two innings that do him in. He isn’t likely to have a ton of run support and I’d rather bet on a Brewers team with NL Wild Card aspirations.
