Cardinals shut out Dodgers

St. Louis ended a four-game losing streak with a 5-0 home win over the Dodgers Sunday night. Adam Wainwright threw six shutout innings to get the win in his second start since coming off the disabled list. He gave up two hits while striking out nine and walking three. Paul DeJong was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs to help pace the offense. Marcell Ozuna finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Jedd Gyorko went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Yadier Molina ended the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Braves drop last two versus Nats

The Atlanta Braves fell 6-4 at home Sunday afternoon versus Washington to lose two out of three in the series. Nick Markakis was 2-for-4 with a double and a run to help pace the offense. Charlie Culberson was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Tyler Flowers finished 1-for-2 with a 2-run homer. Dansby Swanson ended the contest 2-for-4. Sean Newcomb suffered the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks over three innings of work.

Miles Mikolas (15-4, 2.99 ERA) will start today for St. Louis, while Atlanta counters with Mike Foltynewicz (11-9, 2.66).

MLB Betting Trends

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 13-4 in their last 17 road games. St. Louis is 20-7 in Mikolas' last 27 starts.

The Braves are 8-1 in their last nine Monday games. Atlanta is 6-2 in its last eight games overall.

Both pitchers are having very strong seasons, with Foltynewicz coming off a complete-game win at the Giants. Mikolas limits hard contact and damage against him. I'm thinking the best play on the board is the under.
