Twins take both ends of doubleheader
Minnnesota swept Saturday’s doubleheader at Cleveland by scores of 2-0 and 9-5 to improve to 91-57 overall and 51-24 on the road. In game two, Miguel Sano paced the Twins offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a grand slam. Nelson Cruz and Eddie Rosario were both 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two runs scored. Jorge Polanco ended the contest 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Brusdar Graterol picked up the win in relief as he struck out three in two perfect innings of work. Randy Dobnak gets the start today as he enters with an 0-1 record, 2.25 ERA and 1.58 WHIP plus 10 strikeouts over 12 innings.
Indians suffer disappointing losses
Cleveland fell 2-0 and 9-5 Saturday in its home doubleheader versus Minnesota to drop to 86-63 overall and 43-31 at home. Oscar Mercado led the Indians offense in game two as he ended the contest 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Jordan Luplow went 1-for-2 with a homer, a walk and two RBIs. Carlos Santana finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Oliver Perez suffered the loss as he allowed three earned runs on one hit with no strikeouts and two walks over one-third of an inning. Shane Bieber draws the start today for Cleveland as he comes in with a 14-7 record, 3.17 ERA and 1.00 WHIP plus 241 strikeouts over 195 2/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 6-2 in their last eight Sunday games. Minnesota is 14-6 in its last 20 games overall.
Cleveland
The Indians are 1-4 in their last five home games. Cleveland is 5-2 in the last seven Bieber starts with five days of rest.
Prediction:
Jose Berrios is scheduled to be the bulk reliever today after Dobnak, but even after he was brilliant in his last start I don’t see him keeping up with Bieber today. Cleveland needs a win and I see Bieber locked in to make sure that happens. The Twins have a fantastic offense, but there might be some fatigue after yesterday plus it’s getaway day. Minnesota already won the series, so I expect to see more from the Indians today as they look to salvage a game.
