Four-run fourth propels Dodgers
Los Angeles rolled to a 9-2 victory Friday night at New York to improve to 96-53 overall and 40-33 on the road. Gavin Lux paced the Dodgers offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Edwin Rios was 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit 2-run homer. Cody Bellinger ended the contest 2-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Clayton Kershaw picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks over 6 1/3 innings. Hyun-Jin Ryu gets the start tonight as he enters with a 12-5 record, 2.45 ERA and 1.06 WHIP plus 142 strikeouts over 161 2/3 innings pitched.
Mets drop series opener
New York stumbled to a 9-2 home loss against NL-best Los Angeles Friday night to drop to 76-71 overall and 42-30 at home. J.D. Davis helped lead the Mets offensively as he finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Amed Rosario was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Wilson Ramos ended the game 1-for-3 plus a walk. Noah Syndergaard took the loss as he allowed four earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks over five innings. Jacob deGrom draws the start tonight as he comes in with a 9-8 record, 2.70 ERA and 1.03 WHIP plus 231 strikeouts over 183 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
The Dodgers are 4-1 in their last five games overall. Los Angeles is 15-5 in the last 20 Ryu starts.
The Mets are 8-2 in their last 10 Saturday games. New York is 3-7 in the last 10 deGrom home starts.
New York has a 14 percent chance of making the postseason after last night's loss and with its best pitcher on the mound today, it can't afford another home defeat. Ryu has regressed considerably over the last month-and-a-half and as long as New York can get to him for a few runs, deGrom should be in fantastic shape as he can shut down even the best offenses. I'm going with New York to get a needed win tonight.
