Rays fall again at Rangers
Tampa Bay lost by a 6-4 score Thursday night at Texas to drop to 87-61 overall and 44-29 on the road. Austin Meadows helped lead the Rays offensively as he went 1-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Ji-Man Choi was 1-for-1 with four walks and a run. Joey Wendle finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Brendan McKay took the loss as he allowed three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks over 3 1/3 innings pitched. Charlie Morton gets the start tonight as he enters with a 14-6 record, 3.11 ERA and 1.10 WHIP plus 219 strikeouts over 176 1/3 innings pitched.
Angels drop fourth straight
Los Angeles lost 4-3 at home against Cleveland Wednesday to fall to 67-80 overall and 35-37 at home. Kole Calhoun helped lead the Angels as he was 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-5 with a solo homer. David Fletcher was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Dillon Peters took the loss as he gave up four earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and three walks over three innings. Andrew Heaney starts tonight as he comes in with a 4-4 record, 4.30 ERA and 1.19 WHIP plus 100 strikeouts over 81 2/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
The Rays are 5-1 in their last six Friday games. Tampa Bay is 9-4 in the last 13 Morton starts.
The Angels are 3-13 in their last 16 Friday games. Los Angeles is 6-1 in the last seven Heaney starts.
Los Angeles' chances go up a bit every time Heaney is on the mound, but I can't see it doing much against Morton. The Rays are in a three-team race for the AL Wild Card and every game has big importance. Go with the team that has something to play for at this stage.
