Nats unable to complete rally
Washington scored once in the seventh inning and two runs in the eighth but it was not enough Saturday as it fell 5-4 at red-hot Atlanta. Asdrubal Cabrera helped lead the Braves as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Juan Soto was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and two RBIs. Trea Turner ended the contest 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. Austin Voth suffered the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks over four innings. Washington will turn to ace Max Scherzer today as he enters with a 9-5 record, 2.60 ERA and 1.02 WHIP plus 207 strikeouts over 148 2/3 innings pitched.
Braves pound four homers in win
Atlanta won its ninth consecutive game Saturday at home as it outlasted Washington by a count of 5-4. Ozzie Albies helped lead the way as he finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Brian McCann went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Matt Joyce finished 2-for-2 with a solo home run plus a walk. Josh Donaldson ended the game 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored. Julio Teheran picked up the win as he gave up one earned run on three hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Mike Soroka will get the start today for Atlanta as he comes in with an 11-3 record, 2.53 ERA and 1.10 WHIP plus 119 strikeouts over 152 2/3 innings of work.

Prediction:
All winning streaks have to come to an end at some point and with Scherzer dealing for the Nats today, it seems like a good time for the Braves to finally suffer a loss. Scherzer wasn’t very good in his last outing, but he does appear to be fully healthy and should be able to throw a full allotment of pitches this afternoon. Soroka is having a fantastic season in his own right, but he isn’t going to get much run support here. I’m liking the Nats to win a close one as the favorites.
