Yankees held to three hits
New York lost by a score of 6-1 Friday night at Boston to drop to 92-50 overall and 39-28 on the road. Brett Gardner led the Yankees offense as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Didi Gregorius went 1-for-4 with a double. Gary Sanchez ended the game 0-for-2 with two walks. Domingo German took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks over 4 1/3 innings. J.A. Happ will start today for New York as he enters with an 11-8 record, 5.34 ERA and 1.34 WHIP plus 117 strikeouts over 140 innings.
Moreland helps power Red Sox
Boston picked up a 6-1 home win Friday night over New York to improve to 76-65 overall and 36-36 at home. Mitch Moreland helped pace the Red Sox offense as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Rafael Devers ended the contest 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored. Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Marcus Walden earned the win in relief as he gave up one hit with two strikeouts and one walk over one scoreless inning of relief. Travis Lakins gets the start today for Boston as he comes in with an 0-1 record, 4.70 ERA and 1.63 WHIP plus 10 strikeouts over 15 1/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five road games. New York is 13-4 in the last 17 road starts.
The Red Sox are 4-0 in their last four games versus the AL East. Boston is 13-6 in its last 19 games overall.
Boston looked sharp last night and while its starting pitcher today doesn't exactly move the needle, Happ has been home run-happy all season and I expect the Red Sox to hit two or three long balls today. In what should be a high-scoring affair, I trust the Boston offense to put up a big number to support Lakins and its sometimes shaky bullpen.
