Rosario homers in defeat
Minnesota lost by a count of 6-2 Wednesday night at Boston to drop to 86-53 overall and 47-24 on the road. Eddie Rosario led the Twins offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Miguel Sano and C.J. Cron each ended the contest 2-for-3 with a walk. Jose Berrios took the loss as he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and three walks over five innings. Martin Perez gets the start tonight for Minnesota as he enters with a 9-6 record, 4.89 ERA and 1.50 WHIP plus 120 strikeouts across 141 2/3 innings pitched.
Betts has big night to lift Red Sox
Boston led 4-0 through two innings and rolled to a 6-2 victory Wednesday night at home over Minnesota. Mookie Betts provided much of the offense as he finished 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Christian Vazquez ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Brock Holt went 2-for-4 with a run. Eduardo Rodriguez picked up the win as he threw seven shutout innings with five hits allowed, eight strikeouts and four walks. Nathan Eovaldi takes the mound tonight for the Red Sox as he comes in with an 0-1 record, 6.23 ERA and 1.57 WHIP plus 46 strikeouts over 43 1/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 7-0 in their last seven games versus a right-handed starter. Minnesota is 9-2 in its last 11 games overall.
Boston
The Red Sox are 8-1 in the last nine Eovaldi starts. Boston is 5-2 in its last seven games overall.
Prediction:
Minnesota has been slighted by oddsmakers much of the season and this moneyline seems a bit too wide. Eovaldi has been erratic since returning from his arm injury and Perez is a flawed pitcher, but is at least good at keeping the ball in the yard. I think the Twins can bounce back from yesterday’s loss and get on a roll once again behind their dynamic offense and a good enough start by Perez.
