Phillies pull away late
Philadelphia earned a 6-2 victory at Cincinnati Tuesday night as it scored twice in the ninth inning to provide some cushion to its lead. Scott Kingery was 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk to help lead the way. Corey Dickerson was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run scored and an RBI. J.T. Realmuto went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Nick Vincent picked up the win in relief as he struck out one and walked one in one inning of work. Aaron Nola will start tonight as he enters with a 12-4 record, 3.45 ERA and 1.21 WHIP plus 194 strikeouts over 174 2/3 innings.
Reds' struggles continue
Cincinnati lost by a score of 6-2 at home Tuesday night against Philadelphia to drop to 64-75 overall and 37-33 at home. Aristides Aquino helped pace the offense as he finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Josh VanMeter went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Tucker Barnhart ended the game 2-for-4. Amir Garrett took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks over two-thirds of an inning. Trevor Bauer takes the mound tonight for the Reds as he comes in with a 12-10 record, 4.53 ERA and 1.29 WHIP plus 222 strikeouts over 186 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Phillies are 5-1 in their last six games versus a right-handed starter. Philadelphia is 5-1 in the last six Nola starts versus the NL Central.
The Reds are 1-6 in their last seven games overall. Cincinnati is 0-4 in the last four Bauer starts.
I can't back struggling Cincinnati or Bauer right now. With Philly playing some good baseball and needing every win it can get in the playoff race, I'm betting on its ace today to get the job done.
