Story homers twice in victory
Charlie Blackmon finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs in Monday’s 9-8 victory over San Francisco. Colorado led 7-2 through five innings before falling behind 8-7 in the eighth, but two runs in the bottom of the half sent the Rockies to the win. D.J. LeMahieu went 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer and a walk. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 with a double and scored two runs. Trevor Story had a big night as he was 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs. Noel Cuevas was 1-for-2 with two RBIs as a pinch hitter. Seunghwan Oh picked up the win in relief despite giving up three earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks in an inning of work.
Giants hit three homers
Evan Longoria finished 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs in yesterday’s defeat. Nick Hundley was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Gorkys Hernandez ended the game 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs. Alen Hanson contributed a pinch-hit 2-run homer. Chris Shaw added a pinch-hit solo home run. Tony Watson took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and no walks in one inning.
Dereck Rodriguez (6-2, 2.47 ERA) will start today for the Giants, while German Marquez (11-9, 4.11) will take the hill for the Rockies.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 2-7 in their last nine road games. The under is 18-7-2 in the last 27 San Francisco games overall.
Colorado
The under is 20-7-1 in the last 28 Rockies home games. Colorado is 20-8 in its last 28 home games.
Prediction:
Rodriguez has been very good as a 26-year-old rookie for San Francisco, but he might be hitting a bit of a wall. Coors Field won’t make it any easier on him. Conversely, Marquez is on a roll as of late as he is combining quality starts with massive strikeout numbers. I like Colorado to roll today by multiple runs.
