Yankees split with lowly Tigers
The Yankees lost 11-7 Sunday afternoon at home to Detroit as the two teams split the four-game series. Aaron Hicks was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs to help lead the offense. Miguel Andujar finished 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs and an RBI. Gary Sanchez was 1-for-4 with a walk plus an RBI. Gleyber Torres ended the contest 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs. Luke Voit went 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Lance Lynn suffered the loss as he was shelled for six earned runs on nine hits over 3 2/3 innings, striking out six and walking one.
A’s salvage split with M’s
Oakland cruised to an 8-2 win at home Sunday afternoon to split the four-game series with Seattle. Marcus Semien finished 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and two RBIs from the leadoff spot. Matt Chapman and Matt Olson both went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Jed Lowrie was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Stephen Piscotty had a massive game as he ended the afternoon 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs. Chad Pinder finished 3-for-4 with a double and a run. Edwin Jackson picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
CC Sabathia (7-5, 3.36 ERA) will draw the start today for New York, while Oakland is going with Trevor Cahill (5-3, 3.60).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The under is 6-3 in the last nine Yankees games overall. New York is 11-5 in its last 16 games overall.
Oakland
The Athletics are 23-8 in their last 31 home games. Oakland is 48-20 in its last 68 games overall.
Prediction:
With New York only able to split with the Tigers at home, traveling all the way to Oakland and playing a day game is less than ideal. Sabathia should be able to keep New York in the game, but ultimately I don’t think the Yankees will have enough to overcome Cahill and a strong A’s offense.
