Peralta homer lifts Arizona to win
The only offense for the Diamondbacks in their series opener at LA last night came via a 3-run home run by David Peralta in a 3-1 victory. It was his only hit in four at-bats. Steven Souza Jr. was 2-for-5 with a double from the leadoff spot, while Paul Goldschmidt was also 2-for-5. Ketel Marte finished the contest 2-for-4. Robbie Ray picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks over 5 1/3 innings. Brad Boxberger struck out both batters he faced for his 31st save of the season.
Machado hits HR in defeat
The only run for the Dodgers on Thursday night was recorded on a Manny Machado solo home run in the sixth inning. He went 2-for-3 with the home run plus a walk. Justin Turner finished 1-for-3 with a walk, while Matt Kemp was 2-for-4. Rich Hill suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on six hits in five innings, striking out seven and walking none.
Greinke (13-8, 2.93 ERA) will start tonight for Arizona, while Los Angeles counters with Hyun-jin Ryu (4-1, 2.18).
