New York Mets Fantasy Spin
Zack Wheeler was handed a no-decision after allowing five runs — four earned — over six innings Saturday against the Braves. Wheeler allowed four runs through the first three innings, including solo homers from Ozzie Albies and Josh Donaldson. The Mets battled back to take the lead in the fifth, but Wheeler immediately gave up the tying run in the sixth to end his night. He struck out three and walked four batters, making this the first time since April 7 that he walked more than three batters in a start. Wheeler has scuffled over his last three starts and will try to get back on track next week against the Phillies.
Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin
Aaron Nola took a loss Sunday after allowing three earned runs over seven innings. Nola was cruising until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Marlins struck for three runs on two doubles, a walk, and a single. Nola struck out seven batters and issued only one walk, but he got only two runs of support and was ultimately out-dueled by Elieser Hernandez. The 26-year-old right-hander will carry a 12-4 record and 3.53 ERA into his next start at home against the Mets.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 1-6 in Zack Wheeler’s last seven road starts versus a team with a winning record.
Philadelphia
The Phillies have won 39 of Nola’s last 57 starts overall.
Prediction:
The Phillies have won seven of Nola’s last eight starts versus the Mets and have won five of his last six outings at home versus New York. The Mets, meanwhile, have dropped seven of their last eight games versus the Phillies and are winless at 0-6 in their last six games at Citizens Bank Park. After getting swept by the Cubs at home, fading the Mets is the play right now.
The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -140
