Mariners vs. Athletics Prediction
The Oakland Athletics have been one of baseball's best stories this season and have a firm grip on the second AL Wild Card spot right now, but also still have aspirations of winning the AL West. Will Oakland open its weekend series at home versus Seattle with a win tonight?

M's sluggish in finale at Padres
Seattle lost 8-3 Wednesday afternoon in its series finale at San Diego. Jean Segura helped lead the offense as he was 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Robinson Cano went 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Nelson Cruz finished 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Erasmo Ramirez was hammered for seven earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk over three innings to take the loss.
A's give up winning run in ninth
Oakland fell 5-4 in its series finale at Houston Wednesday afternoon as the hosts scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Matt Chapman was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs to highlight the offense. Jed Lowrie finished 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Stephen Piscotty had a double and three RBIs in four at-bats. Ramon Laureano finished 1-for-3 with a double plus a walk. Jeurys Familia took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit in one-third of an inning.
Wade LeBlanc (7-3, 3.92 ERA) will start today for Seattle, while Frankie Montas (5-3, 3.75) takes the hill for the A's.
MLB Betting Trends
The Mariners are 21-7 in LeBlanc's last 28 starts on grass. The under is 6-2 in LeBlanc's last eight starts overall.
The A's are 21-6 in their last 27 home games. Oakland is 8-20 in its last 28 home meetings against Seattle.
Montas has shown some promise in the big leagues and is holding his own for the most part. LeBlanc has slowed down a bit since his great start to the season and Oakland is very tough to beat on its home field. Oakland is trending upward still and I'm betting on the hosts getting this series off to a solid start.
