M’s swept by Yankees
Seattle struggled to handle New York in its three-game home series as it lost 7-3 Wednesday afternoon in the series finale. Kyle Seager paced the Mariners offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Tom Murphy finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Dylan Moore was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Justus Sheffield suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks over 4 1/3 innings. Felix Hernandez draws the start tonight as he enters with a 1-4 record, 6.09 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over 44 1/3 innings pitched.
Jurado, Rangers shut down Angels
Texas closed its series at Los Angeles Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory to improve to 65-69 overall and 27-42 on the road. Ariel Jurado threw six innings of shutout baseball as the bulk reliever as he gave up two hits with one strikeout and one walk. Jose Leclerc notched the save as he struck out two in a perfect inning of work. Isiah Kiner-Falefa paced the offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Nick Solak went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Willie Calhoun ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Lance Lynn gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 14-9 record, 3.85 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 197 strikeouts over 170 2/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 3-7 in their last 10 Thursday games. Seattle is 2-7 in the last nine Hernandez road starts.
Texas
The Rangers are 7-15 in their last 22 games overall. Texas is 10-3 in the last 13 Lynn home starts.
Prediction:
Hernandez looked OK in his return from injury, but I don’t really trust him here on the road against a team that has been strong at home all season. Lynn wasn’t poor in his last outing and could be wearing down some, but he’s pitched well at home for the most part this season and should navigate through a subpar Mariners offense. I can’t find enough reason to go against the Rangers here.
